Mitsubishi / Re: Broken Belt Function
« Last post by Eng_Mq on October 31, 2019, 03:04:05 PM »
Hello my friend

you can use Load characteristics fault detection group in FR-F800 VFD to detect a mechanical fault such as:

Broken belt
Motor bearing damage
Clogged pipes
Blocked filter

Parameter 1480-1492

Thank you

this is a useful tool. do you have another tool for Schneider inverters?

A broken belt is a function for fans that have coupled with motors through belts, mostly in AHUs.
This function allows the inverter to detect if the belt is cut and rise alrm or trip the inverter. Is it clear?

Lifts & Hoist Applications / Re: Brake Resistor Overheat
« Last post by Johnathan on October 13, 2019, 03:55:17 PM »
The problem with OH cranes is that no counter weight is installed, this makes the full load to be carried by the motor.

In braking, resistors heat up, if they overheat, this means something is wrong.

- Did you calculate correctly the braking resistors duty cycle?
- If the brake resistors are installed on top of the crane, did you consider a derating due to ambient temperature?
- Do the resistors keep heating when the motor is stopped? sometimes braking units IGBTs have leakage current which keep the resistors heating even when the motor is stopped.

There are many reasons I can mention, you may try increasing the power rating of the resistors (kW not Ohm), this may help.

Good Luck

I usually use a network analyzer from Fluke, it is the "Fluke 43B". It is discontinued now,
but still have other more advanced models.

Good Luck
